I hope the point with this quiz is that certain stats are misleading - because they sure are here. Gehrig's game wasn't exactly speed, and in every other way he's a hall of famer. Saberhagen, outside of the 2 CY years only won 124 years in the other 14 seasons in which he pitched -2 CY's or not, there's no way he's a HOF'er, ditto with Kaat whose average season was 13-11.

Yes, can't say that I'm advocating Gehrig's removal from the Hall or that I am flabbergasted by Kaat's absence.

Of course, some of these stats are merely amusing and not indicative of HOF voting error. But, the Smith facts say something about him, as do Niekro's. I'd say that anywhere from 15 to 25 percent of the HOFers probably do not belong.
