	That's not why Mazeroski is in the Hall of Fame. He's in the Hall of Fame because he was possibly the best defensive player of all time.

	@Aaron_Kashtan: No, that was the rationalization to put the one-hit wonder in the Hall. His defense was good, but to say he's a better fielder than Brooks Robinson or Ozzie Smith would be crazy.

	The only one on that list I think should be in the Hall is Blyleven. Keith I wouldn't mind, but that's because I'm a Met fan; obviously you can argue against him. Still a really good idea for a quiz.

	Yes, Crash ... Bert definitely; and it's a great idea for a quiz. Also, a strong argument can be made for Tommy John and Jim Kaat (they were bonus answers) to be in the Hall. I've heard good arguments for Dale too, tho I'm on the fence there.

	Dale Murphy should be in the HOF over Jim Rice...product of playing for big-market Boston. Ron Santo should be a bonus answer, at least.

	Mazeroski is possibly the greatest defensive second baseman of all time. Nobody turned double plays better than he did. And if he's in solely for one timely hit, I wonder why Bobby Thompson, Kirk Gibson, and Joe Carter aren't all in the hall too (even though they all had more than respectable careers). What an ignorant statement.

	I would have included guys like Eppa Rixey in the HOFer's category and Santo and Dawson should both be in the not in category.

	@ those defending Mazeroski. Yes, it is my understanding that he was a good defensive player, but do you actually remember him when he played? He better have been otherworldly to make the hall. And if you don't think the 1960 WS homerun was a HUGE factor in his getting in then I got a bridge I can sell you.

	Eppa Rixey, Ron Santo and Jim Rice are good ones I left out but they are bonus answers, among several others on either side of the line. Funny how similar Mattingly, Garvey and Hernandez are... if one gets in, it'll open the flood gates.

	I was looking more at the inequalities of performance and misguided statistical "standards" between those inducted and those not inducted... No one doubts Rose's or McGwire's or Shoeless Joe's credentials. They are not HOFers for entirely different reasons so they are not included in this quiz. Definitely easier to find deserving players who are not in the Hall of Fame than undeserving Hall of Famers.

	You should include Bob Caruthers for Not HOF. He was very versatile 19th century player who excelled at both hitting and pitching.

	@dtro: I agree with you. While his defense was phenomenal, his batting was simply too poor to be enshrined. Never once did he have an OPS+ of 100 or more, which is the mark of an average batter. Besides the 1960 homer, he was just one of those hometown heroes like Phil Rizzuto that got elected because of their support/influence on one team.

	I commend you on your inclusion of Bert Blyleven... he should be in the hall of fame no doubt. I think the most obvious one to go on this quiz is not on here! Pete Rose! 4,256 hits... enough said.

	I'd have to add Dick Allen to the Not list. His career numbers aren't gaudy - 351 HR, .292 BA, .912 OPS - but for the stat heads, his OPS+ of 156 is 19th all-time, equal to that of Willie Mays and higher than others such as Aaron, Wager, Lajoie. But the writers hated him, so he gets no love....

	McGwire was borderline until his late career surge and we all know what caused that surge. Bonds I feel was desrving without the steroids.

	I think that Freddie Lindstrom is the least deserving HOFer other than Mazeroski, and George Kell is close behind. But the Hall needs more 3B (how about Santo, a no-brainer, and Stan Hack?) Hack is as good as Kell and better than Lindstrom.

	I kind of disagree about a statement RK559 made earlier (and I'm a huge fan of his; his quizzes are excellent). He said that "it's easier to find deserving players who are not in the HOF than undeserving HOFers." I think he's very wrong here; there are only a few who are not in who deserve it, and there are plenty in who should not be.
