Please adhere to Sporcle etiquette and capitalize proper nouns. And if you insist on the French spelling, use accents: Orléanais, Franche-Comté, Île de France, etc.

Aquitaine was not the name of the province - it was called Guyenne and Gascony (Guyenne et Gascogne).

Ile de France, without the accents and hyphens, was not accepted for #1. And what about 35-39?

Good idea ! Maybe really hard for those who are not French ! To be complete : 35-Cité des Papes or Avignon. 36-Mulhouse. 37-Savoie 38-Nice 39-Montbéliard. Also it is a little bit confusing to define the provinces with the actual borders since they moved a lot until 1860 (for Nice and Savoie) and 1918 (for a part of the Lorraine and Alsace).
