I left the time limit pretty short to try and eliminate guessing and process of elimination, since this is meant to be a quiz of map recognition. Let me know if you think it's too little time though, and I'll adjust. Also, if you're having to scroll too much, try pushing the F11 button, that should help. Have fun!

a good quiz but I am impatient and scrolling back and forth even with the F11 button is annoying. Anyway you can make is smaller might help.

I didn't have much trouble with the scrolling because once you fill in 1 and 2, you can see the rest of the map and the answer block; you really don't need to see lines 1 - 53. I did have a little trouble figuring out which numbers went with which countries 24, 25 and 26. Great that you can't just type in all the names of african countries and have them go automatically where they belong.

Nice idea to make sure you actually know the countries and not just the names! Can you accept "Rep Congo" for Republic of the Congo (and possibly Dem Rep Congo, though I didn't try that one)?

The numbering in West Africa is all over the map, so to speak.

really cool quiz, have been looking for one like this for awhile! numbering is a little all over the place, a more natural progression across the map might have been easier

yeah, sorry about the weird numbering on this one guys. i originally used a different map that made this numbering make sense, but then i switched to the main sporcle map because it was easier to see...and i didnt want to change what numbers went with which country because i was worried it would mess with the results table. (i don't know if it actually would or not though...do you guys know?) thanks. :)

Because of the weird numbering you can't go on autopilot, but you really have to look at the map. It makes sure that we need to "actually find them on a map" as stated in the description.

Ach! I hadn't noticed the numbering and just went straight across the West African coast, then looked and saw my answer box said 'ghanatogobeninnigeriacameroon'. :P Good series of quizzes!

This has been done before: http://www.sporcle.com/games/Steerpike/Africa_countriesbylocation, but your map looks a bit nicer.

Brilliant quiz, was looking forward to this one after the Europe version. Reckon you should take a minute off the time limit though, most people know their countries now and you can see by the results alot got full marks. had a 1:27 left first time and i think it is doable with 2 mins less, although that may be pushing it if it's the first time you take it. Still a challenge is always good and what spoclers are looking for...

Add a minute just because it takes so long to find some of the numbers. I never did find 22 during the first try.

Agree w/ Heresy - I know my African countries and their location but I did terribly w/ this as I couldn't find the #s and couldn't type fast another. I still wouldn't have gotten them all w/ another minute - but wouldn't have done quite as miserably. Good quiz though!

There is not nearly enough time. Even knowing all the countries, the numbers jump around so much that it's impossible to finish.

Not difficult for me at all, I could identify any country if you showed me its location on a map. Others may struggle more, but it seems like about half were able to get all of these.

I think you should switch the numbering. Don't know whether it would mess with the results, but it would make it a better quiz. Like the quiz though.

Great quiz. I like that it actually makes people identify the country by it's location, rather than just having a case of word-vomit in the form of 195 countries with no regard for location on the map. Not saying the name the countries quiz isn't good, as it is a great way to learn all their names, but this is a great way to learn where they are actually located. This is something I would make my students use if I taught geography. I do think the time limit is a bit too high - I was typing slowly and even made a few mistakes and had just under 2 minutes left. Would LOVE to see the rest of the continents and, if possible, the whole world.

This was a great quiz! I "took my time" finding the numbers and was able to finish this with 2:13 left. Sounds like the time limit is just fine with some people finishing and others not. If no one finished, then I'd suggest changing the time.

The numbers make you name them in order rather than typing random countries to see where they pop in on the map. I'm pretty good with my African countries, but I only got to 34 before my time ran out.

Soon all of the quizzes related to African geography will have to add a new country, which will be located in Southern Sudan. Yay for learning about new countries!

@ mrpotwtf69: the point is to recognize locations, not just spit out country names at random. It was perfect for me because Im studying for an exam tomorrow where i have to do the exact same thing, I sent this quiz to everyone in the course. The time is okay for me, I got it done with time to spare, but not everyone is taking African studies courses and has the whole map memorized so I could see the time being a little short, especially with trying to find the numbers

I third the S. Sudan suggestions, but GREAT QUIZ, And I understand it was made before S Sudan became a state, but I´d still like adding it. It´s amazing how one extra line seems to change the face of Africa

I got through the whole quiz and couldn't find 54 on the map, because it was way up in the 20s and 30s. You really should renumber the whole thing so it's not hard to find the number you're looking for.

Awesome quiz, but some of the numbering threw me off. #54 took me about a minute to find, but I can understand that one because it was a late addition. But why some of the other jumps? like 13 to 14 and 21 to 22. It would be much better if all the numbers were continuous instead of doing one group, then jumping to another on the other side of the continent

I'm not bothered if it messes up the results list, but can you PLEASE sort out the numbering? Like having the countries around the Gulf of Guinea numbered 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 instead of 16, 18, 17, 19, 21, 25, 26, 24, 27?
