Check your facts, please. US Census has Silver Spring, MD, listed at about 70,000 residents. It should be listed #2 for Maryland.

@ef232623: I did, Silver Springs is not a city! It is a Census Designated Place. The census uses CDP's to create population statistics for people who live in unincorporated areas.

A lot of the numbers only have two zeroes listed after the last comma, not three.

Isn't Arlington, VA a CDP too?

@onno: Well VA is somewhat like Hawaii in the way it organizes local governments. Arlington County is in fact a city. It's a little bit like Jacksonville, FL

Arlington County is NOT a city, it is just treated that way for certain situations. http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/51/5103000.html

You are absolutely right about Arlington. I got confused by city/county structure in VA and managed to miss CDP in the census tables.
