	I give full credit for the concept of the Ultimate Roster to user nushney and his great series of quizzes on Ultimate Rosters. However, the way these rosters were formed was done by my own method involving Games Played and WAR. A pitcher with 15+ starts is in the rotation. If there are 7+ pitchers who meet this qualification, the one with the least WAR is cut. Relievers (including SP/RPs and RP/SPs) must have at least 15 appearances. If 7+ pitchers meet this qualification, the 7 with the best WAR stats make the team. I then use games played to come up with a starter for each position (including DH for post-1973 AL) and finish up the 25-man roster with a bench assembled by most games played (NOTE: the bench must be suitable and nobody on the team can have played less than 15 games). Then, "substitutions" are made between the bench and starting lineup if a bench player has a better WAR than the starter at his primary position. Please note that the 1927 Yankees only have 24 players because they only used 24 players who qualified for this roster.

	Great quiz. I liked reading all of your methodology. If I were to make one minor tweak it would be Jeremy Giambi for the Moneyball A's because Beane & DePodesta did want him to be a starter. Normally I would look for 1 reserve at every position. But the Monayball A's don't need a back up SS because Tejada played every game!

	What I meant by "suitable bench" is that there is one reserve (either directly or indirectly) at each position-including the A's shortstop.

	Bill Mueller was the starting 3B of the '04 Sox, Youk was a bench player.

	The A's don't belong here, especially when the word "historic" is in the title. All of these "great" teams at least made it to the World Series except for Oakland. Suggestion: use the 84' Tigers or 95' Braves or any other team who actually won something.

	@tiantesstache: Youk is put in there for Mueller per the "substitutions" aspect of my methodology outlined above. @bones21: While it may be your opinion that the '02 A's don't belong because they "didn't win anything", their sabermetric methods paved the way for future champions, such as the '04 and '07 Red Sox. Not to mention setting the record for longest winning streak with 20 wins in a row, winning 102 games despite losing their 2 best players the previous offseason, and being made into a movie. In my opinion, that more than qualifies them for this quiz.
