| I've just looked up in two old editions of the World Almanac (those reference books that were used before Internet, do you remember?) In 1995 there were 40 flags with straight lines (out of 191) and in 1979 there were 39 (but with only 160 countries). There seems to be a trend to add coats of arms, emblems, etc., to the flags. Costa Rica and Peru (mentioned by bobbleobble) are two cases of flags that have added such emblems. |
