| @Triplet: I see the old problem of "two peoples separated by a common language" has appeared! Here in the upper midwest of the U.S., carry, berry and fairy all have the exact same vowel sound, as do ferry, merry, marry, dairy, parry, harry (to harass), vary, and very. In the name department, they also rhyme here with Gary, Larry, Mary, Teri, Jerry, Sherrey, Harry, Barry, and Perry! I guess we like to keep things "simple" when it comes to pronounciation! |
