Would be too easy with abbreviations. Good quiz!

i agree, too easy with abbreviations. I got them all with 2 seconds left. this included typing in Rangers twice and having to delete it, typing in "habs" and having to delete it and typing in "leafs"

I know that you can't just switch conferences when you switch locations; it's why the Atlanta Braves were in the NL West for the longest time. But is Winnepeg southeast of anything? :)

It's too bad the Thrashers had to "jet" just as I leave for college in Atlanta. Would have been cool to see my hometown team.

The Jets will play in the Southeast for next season and then they will Remake the whole formate, and a few teams are hoping to jump to the Eastern Conf, such as Wings, Predators and Blue Jackets, since they are in the East or borderline. The league is hoping for 4 Divisions, 2 8 Team and 2 7 team divisions.....

There's also the very real possibility that the Coyotes could move East after next season. Glendale only paid for a one season stay for the team, and if they don't find a buyer before next season is over, they could be headed for Quebec City.

I think the reason I did so lousy is that I kept trying Thrashers over and over, wondering why they didn't show up. I was sure it must have been a typo -- either mine or the quiz's. I didn't realize the Thrashers were sold and are moving up to Winnipeg under a new name. Son of a gun!

I would *love* it if the Red Wings realigned into the Eastern conference...huge Wings fan here, and those west coast games during the playoffs that don't start until 10:30 Eastern time wreak havoc with my sleep habits...

@shel99 - I wouldn't mind if the Wings moved to the east as well, but for the exact opposite reason than you. Whenever our west coast team plays the east, the NHL & TV networks pander to eastern TV markets & make our home games start @ 5pm local time when most of us (including people that have tickets to the game) are still at work or just leaving. I think weekday games should always start at 7 or 7:30pm local time for the home team, wherever that team may be...

@steckel15: Go ahead hate bruins fans just because they won in 1970. Yeah the blues did make the playoffs in 2009 but were swepted right out of the first round before they even knew what happened. Oh and by the way the Blues have never won the cup end of story............

@bostonbruins46, i dont hate bruins fans because the bruins win, i hate them because the majority are fairweather fans, at least the ones i know especially for the last cup, and alright blues havnt won a cup thats fair u can say we havnt been successful but to say we havnt made the playoffs or be competitive lately is ridiculous

@shel99 and @Berubium, I hope the Wings stay in the West just because they have a few rivalries there. I imagine Blackhawks fans wouldn't enjoy starting "Detroit sucks" chants only once every two seasons. :P Hopefully a team like Nashville with not much history will change conferences.

@OilFan, although I said I'd like Detroit to move to the East because of scheduling, you make a brilliant point. The Red Wings have some great rivalries & those would be jeopardized by a move to the east. I always love it when my favourite team (Canucks) play them. Great rivalry indeed. If Colorado ever gets good again, perhaps the classic Red Wings-Avalanche rivalry could get rekindled.

@kdrak: Agreed. If "Habs" is acceptable, "Leafs" definitely should be. Along with Nucks, Sens, Avs, Preds, Canes, Caps, Yotes, Wings, Hawks, and Pens perhaps ;)

I kept typing "Bolts", "Caps", "Sens", "Pens", "Leafs" etc. and having to backspace and type out the full name longhand. Damn quizzes for insisting on actual team names and not easy-to-type nicknames. :)
