| Waterjoe - thanks for taking the time to comment. I suggest that the Springfield of the Guiding Light is indeed in Illinois with much license. The reason I say this is that the original radio program was definitely set in Illinois. While the geographical markers of the television version don't fit any Springfield, I'd say based on its origins, Illinois is the most likely intent of the originators.
