Please let me know if I need to make changes. I know that 0:25-0:29 is going to be hard. Not only is it a little more obscure than the others, but there's not much there to go off of. Just listen closely (especially at the end of the clip).

Give this quiz another 3 minutes play. There just isn't enough time to type "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" by Naked Eyes in 3 seconds. But completely
awesome
selections! Tom Tom Club & Yazoo back to back! My brain nearly exploded! Bump the time up to 9 or 10 minutes to give players a 2nd or 3rd play of the tracks, and I'll make this an Editor's Choice.

Oh my god, this is awesome. I did horribly on it (only nine? sweet lord...), but I don't care. I love '80s music so much. If anything, this gives me more tunes to check out, which is great!

GREAT QUIZ! Awesome song selections (good one for OMD yay!). You are right about 0:25-0:29 it was the only thing keeping me from a perfect score. It is a hard section and I know and love that song. I liked your hints too. Can't say enough good stuff. Do more quizzes, sound clips or not--you have excellent taste in music.

Really awesome idea for a quiz, extremely tough too especially when only using the intro. I kept waiting for "Jump" to come up but it never did...I thought for sure it would be on here!

Sorry, I'm dumb...how do I get the clips to play? My timer is running, but I'm not hearing anything.

I thought this was an absolutely wonderful quiz...except for 0:25-0:29. I got all the rest in about 5 minutes and spent the other 5 just typing in random songs from 1984. Part of the problem, I think, is that the intro you excerpted comes from an album/extended version of that song and not the single mix which I'm most familiar with.

you can't have an 80's synth intro quiz without Jump.....just saying

Awesome quiz! Encore, encore! BTW I disagree about Jump, these are all new wave, synth based songs, Jump falls more into the rock category.

"New Year's Day" by U2 would be a good one for a sequel.

Great quiz. I'm not sure how you can leave off "Jump" and "The Final Countdown" in a synthy intros quiz, but maybe that's just me...

There is no way you can have a quiz called "80's Synth Intros" and leave out "Waiting For A Girl Like You" by Foreigner.

or "Moving In Stereo" by the Cars - which of course brings to mind Phoebe Cates in Fast Times :D

Excellent quiz! You did use a strange version of "Big In Japan" though.

"Moving In Stereo" was on the short list, but it just missed the cut. "Jump" and "The Final Countdown" were never in the works. They might be great synthesizer intros, but they would not fit in with the other songs. I never realized that there was another mix of "Big in Japan" because I just own the album. I'll make sure I don't mess that up if I do another one.

I *thought* that sounded a bit like "Never Gonna Give You Up" at the end. Glad to see "A Little Respect" on here too.

I consider myself somewhat of an 80s expert, but I only got 7 of the answers. This was really hard. I've never even heard of most of these songs, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Rick Astley song that's NOT Never Gonna Give You Up was just dastardly! Expecting to be Rickrolled, I definitely thought the drums from Always Something There To Remind Me was it, until the actual synth came in.

I *knew* it was "Together Forever" the first time. I tried to stop my hands from typing "Never Gonna Give You Up." They ignored me.
