Monaco is missing. Also, why single out Croatia-Slavonia from other constituents of the Austro-Hungarian Empire?

Croatia-Slavonia was part of Hungary. Crete and Bulgaria were both technically part of the Ottoman Empire in 1900.

Would be quite nice to have the full names of all countries (i.e. Principality of Bulgaria, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Kingdom of the Netherlands etc). Other than that, great quiz!

Croatia-Slavonia is rather strange, as it was definitely part of A-H. It may have been autonomous, but why then not include Austria and Hungary separately, which were definitely more autonomous?

Austria-Hungary is an agreed dual state and C-S is autonomous within this dual state. But to avoid dispute where in the future people will be asking to split the UK up, I'll remove Croatia-Slavonia and keep Austria-Hungary as it is.

Really fun quiz. It would be awesome to eventually have a bunch of these quizzes at different time periods to see how boundaries change. Thanks!

I had to look up what the "Cretan state" was... Wasn't it part of the Ottoman Empire? I know it was "autonomous", but still... seems like an unfair answer that no one would guess.

Awesome idea for a quiz. Had no idea there ever was a Cretan state.

really interesting quiz, and I for one prefer more information (such as the existence of a Cretan state) than less. Possibly there is a way to make the quiz so that one has to name both the kingdom and any autonomous states within the kingdom?

the miracles of wikipedia also inform me that the Kingdom of Tavolara was also an independent state at this time, off the coast of Sardinia, in which case that should be included (also, it'll confuse people even more).

Vatican City. Been independent longer than quite a few of them.

You should accept Turkey for the Ottoman Empire. And possibly Norway/Sweden individually for the one state.

I typed Austrohungaria, austrohungary, austro-hungary, austro-hungaria etc. Please make some more allowable answers for this. You need to accept Norway or Sweden for the alliance. Good game

crover, none of those were ever the names for Austria-Hungary, at least in English. Was the country known by those names in other languages?
