| I think the states out east with fewer tornadoes (like Massachusetts) have a tougher time dealing with them when they do hit. Add that to the fact that Massachusetts is pretty densely populated, and you have a recipe for disaster when tornadoes do hit. In contrast, in a place like Kansas, everyone knows what to do and can see the tornadoes coming from miles away in some cases.
It's kind of like how any southern city will shut down after receiving 2 inches of snow, but northern cities are just fine with a foot. |
