| Anyone know the story behind St. Joseph, Missouri? Its population in 1890 was 52,324. In 1900, it shot up to 102,979. In 1910, it dropped way down to 77,403. Since then, it has hovered right around that figure, from a low of 71,852 in 1990 to a high of 80,935 in 1930. Its current estimated population is 76,222. That 1900 population seems like a anamoly. Its Wikipedia page contains this quote: "Saint Joseph peaked as an expansionist city in 1900, with a census population of 102,979. (However, this population figure is highly questionable.)" |
