There's a lot of time left to guess the ones you don't know for sure by process of elimination. I'd cut the time by at least half.

Not by half. I would only cut it down to one minute, about four. But that is nitpicking of an excellent quiz.

@GeoExpert I made my comment when the quiz was at 8 minutes. So we actually agree on the time! And on both points, actually, as I also agree that it's a terrific quiz.

Cutting the time would be good. It would be more of a challenge for all the nerds who have a list of teams in front of them.

It would be more challenging to have the converse of this --- given the ballclub, name the county or equivalent.

when was pinella's county named. dear god i hope this is not named after the manager who led them to 5th place 5 years in a row....then again this is the state where a team retired the jersey of a guy who didn't play for them and another who didn't even play the same sport...then again no heat fans will ever notice because the six people at the games can't see the rafters through the fireworks of the championship celebration in July....GO MAVS

I was going to correct wasting2muchtime's comment, but thanks to ricefumbled, I realized it would be a waste of time. Haha, that was not an intentional pun!

Pinellas County was named for the Spanish Punta PiƱal ("Point of Pines" or "Piney Point").

I think it should be one minute. Half of them are gimmies, and a veteran sporcler can name all 30 teams in a minute anyway. There should be SOME challenge to it

Pinellas County was not named after Lou any more than Jackson County was named after Bo.

@deej: Many veteran Sporclers can name them all in a minute, but probably the majority of site traffic does not come from people who can. Most quizzes on the front page should be playable by the general public, and having a quiz like this be one minute wouldn't qualify.

I guess it helps if you know the state the county is in. At first I read King as Kings and thought of the Brooklyn Dodgers, but that was quite a while ago. :)

You guys mentioned Kings County...Kings County, NY is the largest county without an MLB ballclub. The largest county that doesn't have an MLB ballclub or doesn't touch a county with a ballclub...Clark County, NV

good point purple...but please specify that you mean 'largest' in terms of population...the largest county without a ballclub in terms of size would be San Bernardino

If you finish the quiz, why do care if there is time left on the clock? I don't get it.

It's gotta be awfully hard to miss the Phillies, Brewers, Giants, Cardinals, Dodgers, Padres, Orioles, Blue Jays, Rockies, Nationals or Marlins.

Toronto is a single-tier municipality - there is no regional or county level government - since 1998, and even before then, it wasn't called the Toronto Regional Municipality (it was the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto)

The issue with this quiz is that too many of them are too easy. You can run through the obvious ones, and guess and check through the rest without much difficulty nor much of a pinch for time. Still fun though.

Interesting that Cook County, Illinois, is the only one with two MLB teams, even though several metropolitan areas have two teams.

@TimeAndTide: If you include past teams, Philadelphia County, PA, Suffolk County, MA, and St. Louis, MO would also have multiple teams, as well as New York County, NY (Manhattan) for the first twenty years of the AL before the Yankees moved to the Bronx, and Los Angeles County, CA for five years before the Angels moved out to Anaheim.

to the person who said make it one minute----set an alarm ---quit after one minute---that is fine--- a lot of people are casual Sporclers and would be driven from the site if every quiz was timed to your exacting standards
