@manonthemoon Edam is actually a proper noun so it can't be accepted.

I just barely managed to get them all except "bloc", but I've never even heard that word before so I guess I'm satisfied. What is it? Also found the Ajax bonus... along with noob. Any others?

@sergeant343 - Those sounds are onomatopoeias. Words that come from the sounds they make.

zoot is undoubtedly a word being out of date or out of fashion doesn stop it being a word.

zoot is not a word, it is only a word when used with suit forming zoot suit which is in the dictionary, however zoot alone is not

I'm amazed that E--M was second least guessed, I'd have thought it was a much more common word than U--C. Or is that just in the UK?

I still don't understand why I'm being downvoted for asking about JOUR. I know the word isn't English, but the phrase "soup du jour" is in the English dictionary.

Trub fits, too. It's a brewing term for the layer of sedimented yeast and proteins found at the bottom of the brewing vessel after fermentation.

I bet D--Z isn't in any UK dictionaries. I certainly haven't come across it (although I do know the adjectival form, but didn't connect it in time.) And Zoot and Edam are both proper nouns which means they wouldn't be valid in Scrabble. (Same with Ajax - so if that's a bonus answer, the other two should be as well.)

@ Tragic return, would an example help? 'Nom de plume' is probably in an English dictionary, but that doesn't mean that 'nom' is an English word.
