| My response would be that most of these countries are just too small (geographically, demographically, economically) to need anything more than just an embassy. Of the ones that don't have embassies, they fall into three groups: [1] Countries with openly hostile relations (Cuba, North Korea, Iran); [2] Countries with no functioning government (Somalia); [3] Countries not universally recognized and so they have "trade offices," or some such nomenclature, instead (Taiwan). |
