Way too much time. I know not every Sporcler can do the countries of the world in alphabetical order, but enough of us can that this quiz should be 3 or 4 minutes, not 7.

@TreehugginCowgirl After 250 plays, only 18% have gotten them all right so I think your statement may be incorrect.

perhaps drop it to 5 minutes as a happy medium. basically comes down to how many people you want to get 100% correct. my personal preference is to keep that less than 10%, so that the bell curve can be seen on the results page, instead of "chopped off". but to each his own :)

Well executed. I found myself typing "Denmark Deutschland" and "Sudan Suomi," but eventually got the correct ones with time to spare.

It's not really a 'double' just because the first two letters happen to be the same. I wouldn't call the words 'fish' and 'finite' doubles. I'm getting tired of seeing quizzes based around the simple arrangements of letters in the English names of countries, etc; they're so arbitrary and meaningless and have nothing to do with the geography itself. This and so many others should definitely be in the language or miscellaneous category, not geography.

@agtheking: Well, that would be because Greenland is not a country. Try Denmark instead - it even works for this quiz!

@reywas92: I disagree. It's a good way to help remember all the countries of the world, to look for such patterns.

Thought of Jamaica before Japan, Sierra Leone before Singapore, Suriname before Sudan, Vanuatu before Vatican City, and Grenada before Greece. Sporclitis at its best.

@MeTheTyler: You're missing the point. These are cases where ONLY two countries fit the pattern. CA not only has Canada and Cambodia, but also Cameroon and Cape Verde.

I tried starting with Alabama & Alaska, when it didn't work I decided to skip it and come back to that one later, but when Arizona & Arkansas failed as well, it finally clicked.

tlaz: Aruba isn't an independent country. Armenia works (and is the proper pairing with Argentina).

The best Sporcle quizzes are the ones in which, 30 seconds into the quiz, you're smugly thinking "Way too much time", and 30 seconds from the end, you're bitterly thinking "How the $%^&@ does he expect me to get every answer in only six %^&* minutes??" Well dune @puck and curse you, Sierra Leone.

For De I do think that Democratic Republic of Congo should also be accepted, I know many countries formally have democratic republic in front of their more usual shortened names but DRC does generally keep its Democratic to avoid confusion with the Republic of Congo. Other than that, a great quiz, thank you!

You know you're getting desperate when you are trying to pair Germany and you come up with Gelato and Gepetto as possibilities. (for the record I did manage to get the match with 2 seconds to go)
