Nice quiz! Visualising the map, I found it hard to believe Argentina & Chile aren't another qualifying pair.

Rad quiz. Very simple, but not easy. I think you could take a minute or two off the time. I'm going to nominate it either way.

Just the right mixture of some dead easy, some in the middle and others extremely difficult - excellent job.

Simple but deceptively difficult, and just the right amount of time I thought. Brilliant and nominated.

It's kind of cool how the results bear out the pairing--how close the percentages are for each partnership. I mean, of course that is going to happen, but it's still cool. Okay, so I'm easily amused.

Canada and Portugal: both once had a lot of historical significance, both overshadowed by their only neighbor.

Good quiz, although technically the UK does not share 100% of it's border with Ireland. It has a small border with Spain (Gibraltar).

Maybe I'm missing something with the math but what about the Vatican and San Marino (both totally surrounded by Italy) and Lesotho (totally surrounded by South Africa)? You have to have 100% of your border around a country if you're IN the country, right?

@futureprez2016: Yeah, but the majority of Italy's borders are not with either of those two. Same with South Africa and Lesotho.

@KRC - Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and not considered part of the actual UK. @futureprez2016 - Both countries need to share over 50% of their border with the other. So while 100% of the Vatican's border is shared with Italy, the same is not true the other way around.

@futureprez yes but the game description states that both countries must share at least 50% of their border with the other country, so whilst 100% of Vatican City's border is shared with Italy, only a small proportion of Italy's border is shared with Vatican City.

Thought at first maybe it would be Papua new Guinea and Indonesia, but I guess it borders Malaysia a bit more. Really I guess I just wanted Papua New Guinea because it's a fun country to say and doesn't get enough recgonition.

I want to see the inverse of this: a quiz on all country pairs that barely border each other (e.g. China-Afghanistan).

@ArtFever It's not exactly the same concept as this quiz, but there is a "World's Shortest Borders" quiz:

Who would've thunk that the border between the UK and Ireland is the same length as the border between Haiti and Dominican Republic? Only Sporcle would teach you that.

@BigAl: I made the same guess, but it turns out that North Korea's border with China/Russia in the north is longer than its border with South Korea to the south.

I only got Costa Rica because I was sure it had over 50% of it's land border with Nicaragua. Even now, when I look at a map, it looks like it is -- deceptive! Great take on the borders-quiz genre, Puckett86.

Surprised Senegal and Gambia didn't make the cut, is this just an arbitrary list of pairs of countries?

@lex_173: Please explain to me why not. So first I'll need a technical definition of a country, then explain why the UK does not fit that definition.

@bigturnip: Senegal's border with Mauritania alone is longer than its border with Gambia, so < 50%, and maybe more like < 30%.

Answer to previous question: S. Korea only borders N Korea, but N. Korea has a longer border with China and Russia than with S. Korea--therefore less than 50% of its borders are with S. Korea. As for me, I missed the 4 Central American ones. Looks like I had company, but I still can't believe I did not try those.
