Great quiz idea! My strategy was to do the abbreviations first, then the states (I went through state abbreviations because there's only 50 compared to 118 or 195), then the elements, and finally the countries (had to do some guesswork on some of those!)

Great quiz, and I enjoyed puzzling out the abbreviations while solving the rest. Well done.

Love it! Can't understand why Niger came to mind immediately for NE, yet I sat there and looked at CA forever, and still didn't get it!!...? Anyway great quiz! :)

You know you've "Sporcled" a time or two when you try Cape Verde and Palau for CA and PA. also, interesting that more people have gotten "Indiana" than "India"...

If only I could have thought of Laos, then I would have got 100% on this, drunk at 4AM. Now that would have been some achievement :p
Incidentally this is one of my favourite quizzes ever; much like FreakyFlyBry I thought of state abbreviations, then which state it was (though often forgot to do this until last!) then elements if I knew them, then struggled my way to the country - or possibly the other way round if I could get the country first. If anyone else can think up more quizzes where you have to skip around mentally in such a way PLEASE make them!

I found it easiest to type in the abbreviations with states in mind first, since there's the fewest of them. Getting most of the elements was pretty easy after that, but some of those countries really surprised me.

I did the abbreviations first (literally started aa ab ac, etc. since it took more time thinking of a state and possible abbreviation... come to think of it maybe i should have just started rambling off states first.. idk... but it only took a couple minutes to get all the abbreviatons anyway... easily got all the states after, and got a few of the others... Nice quiz!!! And how is it even possible to have a higher percentage on indiana, when you automatically get credit for india in the process of typing it anyway?????

Brilliant. How *can* more people get Indiana than India? As soon as I typed in the first 5 letters of Indiana, India came up.

Excellent quiz - interesting to see each of those abbreviations used for three distinct things. Lots of fun and a decent challenge. Great work!

Today's sign that it's not going to be my day: I typed in Papua New Guinea and learned it wasn't the answer for PA, NE, *or* GA. I really should just go back to bed. (BTW, great game.)

Some weird country and state tie ups. MN for example. A vast featureless desolately barren landscape inhabited only by the uncivilized and superstitious. And it's twinned with Mongolia!

I hope you don't honestly think this about Minnesota... St. Paul-Minneapolis-Bloomington is one of the biggest metro areas in the Midwest (third after Chicago and Detroit), and northern MN is easily among the most beautiful places in the country.

Is it that 1.9% of the people type so fast that they can type Indiana without getting credit for India or are they copying/pasting from somewhere?

I suppose those 1.9% could've made a typo, too. If they spelled 'indina' by accident and then add the a, they'll 'skip' India. Great quiz, in any case. I knew NE doesn't stand for the Netherlands (that's NL), but Niger? I'm assuming either NI or NG stands for Nigeria, but I can't figure out what country stops Niger from having the other abbreviation. Oh well.

One of the biggest reasons I thoroughly enjoy doing Sporcle is because it affords me the opportunity to learn new things. What I learned from this quiz is my knowledge of country abbreviations quite suck and I really need to memorize the periodic table of elements better.
