Way to go Congressman Harsha! (And his son, Judge Harsha.) You know you've made it when you're on a Sporcle quiz. Great fun psubball1- a great quiz as always.

I guessed where Grenada Lake was because I've lived in Mississippi for 12 years, but I've never heard of it. Ross Barnett Reservoir, Sardis Lake or the Tenn-Tom Waterway are all much better known.

For New York, you might consider, the Hudson or Gennesee Rivers, the Erie or Mohawk canals, Lakes George, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka, Saranac, Oneida or Skaneateles. Those are all fairly well-known and more or less completely internal to the state.

Idaho as "Pacific" and Nebraska as "Mountain". Somebody's been hittin' the crack pipe.

There are definitely less obscure options for Ohio. The Cuyahoga River, Scioto River, Olentangy River, and Sandusky Bay all come to mind.

Bit disappointed that my state's body of water is from the other side, but having looked at a map, all of Western PA's share with another state.

There is actually a Lake of the Woods in Illinois just north of Champaign, but I'm guessing only my fellow muskie fishermen would know that. Good quiz.

Have to agree with Gravey here. Only the northern 1/3 of Idaho is in the Pacific time zone and the far western 1/3 of Nebraska is in the Mountain zone. I'm not sure where those particular bodies of water are in the states, but you may want to clarify that column a bit.

@TJSharky: I believe the bodies of water are located in the respective time zones that are listed next to the state. Take Idaho for example. The lake that is given in the hint for that state is located in the northern 1/3 portion of the state....In the end, I only threw in the time zones as a helpful aid to quiz takers and if people feel like they are actually hurting you or not necessary please let me know and I can remove them.

I grew up in Ohio, and I have no idea where William Harsha lake is. I would suggest a better-known body of water like the Scioto River or the Cuyahoga river (there's a Cuyahoga national rec area, so it should be better known).

I agree with the obscurity of the Ohio body of water. I, too, grew up in Ohio and have never heard of that. How about Lake St. Marys?

I know it might make it too easy for the quiz, but the Tennessee River is a much more important and prominent waterway for Tennessee.

How about Reel Foot for the Tennessee lake? There is some good lore along w/ very popular fishing to go along with it.

@foreverfreebird: The Tennessee River flows into multiple states, so it can't be listed as just for Tennessee.
@troutwater: I looked up Reel Foot and it would work. I dont know if that is really famous in Tennessee, but I picked Old Hickory because it is Andrew Jackson's nickname and he is widely associated with the state.

So Crater Lake is in Oregon. Who knew? Well, looking at the results table, the answer is evidently, "everyone on Earth but me". (*blush*) Nice quiz.

Timezones can be a bit confusing since several states are in multiple timezones.

I got all the paciffic ones by guessing all the pacific states since there are only a few, but the inclusion of the time zones was a great twist to this quiz!

The Indiana answer is far more commonly know as Lake Monroe or Monroe Reservoir. It is very rare to see or hear it as Monroe Lake. I suggest a change in that wording.

@redessence: You can skip around by clicking the "next" button or using your mouse to pick the box you want to guess. You're right, however, that some people probably just didn't get to it.

Darn, Massachusetts could have been Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, the longest place name in the US (located in Webster MA). One translation is "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, and nobody fish in the middle."

@redessence: Most Sporcle users know all 50 states, so if you didn't have to answer in order, then you could just name the states that you know.

Is this quiz supposed to choose the bodies of water randomly? It did at first for me, and then whenever I got one or clicked next it went to the one beneath it.
