| @Spelvout: Be careful not to confuse the ancient Macedonians with the modern Macedonians. Ancient Macedonia was a Greek kingdom, through and through, and as such, Alexander was a Greek too. There were differences in culture, the most obvious being that the Macedonians did not live in city-states like their southern counterparts, but it was still very much part of the Greek world. The modern Macedonians, however, are a Slavic people, just like the Serbs, Russians, Poles and so on. |
