	That's a tad optimistic. On the topic of the quiz, Mauritania hasn't laid claim to Western Sahara since the 1970s.

	very good, interesting quiz. something about Hawaii maybe? the members of the "Nation of Hawaii" would probably agree. once again, though, it doesnt involve two sovereign nations so i'm not sure if it would fit into this quiz or not-just thought i would mention it.

	also, maybe Northern Ireland? these certainly are relatively peaceful times in that region, but would it still technically qualify as disputed? i think some folks on both sides would still probably argue that it's very much disputed.

	Northern Cyprus I couldn't agree more, but what part of it, since the UK, Cyprus, Northern Cyprus*, and Turkey are all intermingled on that island. Do you know a particular part of it and I'll add it...thanks!

	You could add Belize, which Guatemala claims. Also, Algeria is sometimes accused of trying to annex Western Sahara. @psubball: the Irish government used to claim Northern Ireland, but gave up their claim a few years ago as part of the peace settlement.

	There are a lot of higher profile disputes that you could include (although I understand this didn't say "all the disputes.") Nagorno-Karabakh, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, Caprivi Strip, Chinese/Indian border, Tibet, Bakassi Peninsula, Gaza, Jerusalem, Northern Cyprus, etc. Also, you might want to separate some of these out that are not necessarily disputed, but instead harbor independence movements.

	The problem with some of those is that they are not between two sovereign states. I agree that those are higher profile ones, but at the same time I wanted to keep this between two sovereign states. the india china border I can add though. Thanks for the input.

	I do agree that some of these are off the beaten path, but some are well known. I will add that my favorite one has to be "Hans Island". It's hilarious :)

	Like the quiz, but I would strongly disagree with Belize. My father lives there, I've been there 19 times, and never have I once heard that Guatemala claims it. I haven't the slightest clue where you got that info... Other than that, great!

	Carth927, Guatemala has laid claimes to Belize since colonial days when Belize was calles British Honduras. In the western portion of the country, there are still a lot of ties to Guatemala.

	South Ossetia sure, but is Georgia and Russia the ones disputing the territory, I know that there is a self determination movement, but I am trying to keep the Quiz between 2 Sovereign states.

	doent india recognise the independence of tibet. it doesnot fight over that territory. the border dispute between india and china is over arunachal pradesh..

	SPECIAL NOTE: Just spent some considerable amount of time revamping this quiz and validating some of the answers with a much more credible source than Wikipedia. CIA World Factbook confirmed all of the disputes except for MONT BLANC. I did add on some additional disputes that I thought were pretty interesting. Hope the changes help!

	yeah, mauritania definitely isn't laying claim on western sahara - a better answer would be Sahwari Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) or Polisaro Front, which are the putative name of and independence movement of, western saharan nationalism.

	Great idea, although I really would suggest using more than one source, given that this quiz is about 'disputed' territories. The classification of a 'sovereignty' in some cases is already a dispute, seeing that some countries are laying claim on the entirety of another (Belize, for example). Perhaps using an accepted UN definition of a sovereign state would be better? Kosovo, Taiwan, Palestine... difficult to deal with, if you do take a somewhat more neutral stance and step back from your own political views.

	I find it interesting that you included some cases in which an actual country (as recognized) is the disputed territory. I think that makes it a little too easy. Overall, an interesting idea for a quiz that will always spark debates no matter how many sources you have.

	Two further suggestions: Rockall, claimed by UK, Ireland, Iceland and Denmark; and the Spratlys, claimed by the People's Republic of China, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei. You could pick any two countries for each.

	Guantánamo Bay isn't really disputed territory since the US doesn't claim sovereignty over it, the dispute is over the validity of the lease. The US recognizes the area as Cuban land, but contends that it has a valid (& perpetual) lease to use it as a naval base. Simplistically, it's like a dispute between an apartment renter & landlord, the renter can recognize the landlord as the owner of the apartment while still having a lease that gives them a right to live there. A substitution could be the Akrotiri & Dhekelia dispute between Britain & Cyprus. Unlike the Guantánamo Bay situation, the British actually maintained sovereignty over these areas in the treaty that created the country of Cyprus on the rest of the island, Cyprus contends these areas should be integrated into their country. Both areas are not claimed by Northern Cyprus (they actually stopped advancing at the border so as not to cause a dispute with the UK).
