| I knew Brodeur never won a Conn Smythe, and it isn't that much of a surprise. A very good goalie with a stacked team (especially defensively).
For the 2002-03 Conn Smythe argument.
Brodeur- 16-8 7 shutouts. 1.65 GAA, .934 save percentage 41 goals against on 622 shots. Roughly 26 shots per game...took part in 8 OT periods. 2-4 in OT games.
Giguere- 15-6 5 shutouts. 1.62 GAA .945% 38 goals on 697 shots (Roughly 33 shots per game. Took part in 14 OT periods. Swept the 2nd seeded Red Wings in the first round and Minnesota in the Conference Finals. 7-0 in OT games. Giguere carried a marginal team to a game 7 in the Finals.
The 7-0 in OT games, including a 5 OT, a 3 OT game and a 2 OT game are probably what sealed it for him.
By the way, I like the quiz, though I think you could make each column heading only state what you need for that column. I missed 4 total, all Conn Smythe winners. Goring, Ranford, Leetch (I have no idea how I missed him) and Vernon (tried all the Wings I could think of except the goalies). |
