| @chriskotx - the "predominantly muslim countries" i'm guessing you refer to albania and bosnia - they are not predominantly muslim really, more of a 50-50 split, and we are not talking about hardcore islam here - sure they go to the mosque etc but most of them are not averse to a beer or 2 either ! most balkan muslims families converted under the ottoman empire to avoid having to pay taxes, so it's not really a very serious thing. during the yugoslav wars, some al-qaeda fighters came to fight with their "muslim brothers" against the serbs but then left disgusted that the bosnian muslims didn't want to give up pork and beer. same thing goes for kosovo. and actually all 3 of these countries have some very good breweries, tirana beer, birra e pejes, sarajevsko... |
