| beerslayer: The list of the world's largest cities in the world that I put the most faith in is the UN's urban agglomerations list. Which itself does not include London in the top 25 (it's #26). Of course, all of the stats are imperfect. London's population according to the UN is roughly 8,567,000. Guangzhou, China is #25 at 8,829,000. It's certainly conceivable that you could define a city's borders in such a way as to give London more people than Guangzhou without doing anything others would deem to be not entirely truthful. However, the limits of a city's population must be defined somehow and it's not a sure thing that London would get included in the top 25 on one of these lists. Although, I do agree that it is more likely than not that it is one of the 25 most populated cities in the world. In any case, it's certainly one of the five most significant ones. |
