| @geogenius: Florida and Michigan were both British colonies from the time of the French and Indian War until the American Revolution. After the war, the French ceded almost all of its land east of the Mississippi (including modern Michigan) to England. As part of the treaty, Florida was ceded to Spain, which was an ally of England. However, England wanted Florida, so it traded Cuba for Florida, making Florida an English colony. Following the American Revolution, the English traded Florida back to Spain for the Bahamas. So both Michigan and Florida were British possessions for a few years, and therefore the quiz is correct. |
