Okay, I can totally understand frustrations toward editors and what they choose for editor picks. I've been making quizzes for a year and a half, and for that first year none of my quizzes got editor picks. I was feeling the exact same way as you guys. But what you have to realize is that these users are editors for a reason: they know what makes a good quiz. So they're bound to make good quizzes, too. Just because they're editors doesn't mean they're not allowed to pick themselves if they think they're worthy. Perhaps there may be a tad bit of bias, but that's basically unavoidable and I seriously don't think it's gotten out of hand; plenty of non-editors have gotten the limelight (myself included).
There are so many good quizzes in the user-contributed section; not all of them can be picked. And there are plenty of games that editors make that are not picked.
So is there some sort of conspiracy? No. It just comes down to A) How good of an idea your quiz is, B) How well-executed it is, C) How well it's noticed by editors and non-editors alike, and D) How well it is received.
