	I believe the 5th plague affected more than cattle. Sheep, goats etc, were also affected, so livestock is the best choice of word.

	flies is not a plague. number four should be "wild beasts" or something like that. but certainly not flies.

	@Adam, The word in the ancient text is debated as some form of "swarm" of either flies or beasts. I agree that beasts should be accepted, but flies is most definitely a common translation.

	i would argue that ten should accept "death of firstborn" or "death of the firstborn" and not just "firstborn." also, the plague was actually the death of ALL firstborn, not just egyptian, it just happens that the hebrews were able to protect themselves.

	What do you have to write in for #10? I wrote "death of firstborn" and it was not accepted but that is obviously the answer.

	Yeah 10 wont take "Death of firstborn" but will take firstborn. Also agreed that five should allow "cattle". I missed 2.

	i thought there was a plague of wild beasts and isnt flies and lice/gnats be considered the same? plus also the cattle complaint

	I've definitely never heard of flies as an alternate translation for beasts. maybe you could accept both flies and wild beasts, since both translations exist evidently. and i think cattle disease should be acceptable for livestock; even if the plague was more general than just cattle, that's how it's commonly referred to.

	Mike- same with me. I knew there was locusts and more bugs. I forgot it was two more bugs (though comments now say "beasts"). Matt- Wow at it accepting "Nile." I don't think I had a big problem getting that one to pop, though. Also- I tried "rain of fire" so many different ways it is ridiculous. Everything else I was okay with.

	fire was not the 7th plague any way you slice it. just fire means God could have spread fire through egypt. the fact that fire was attached to the ice that normally constitutes hail was just a way for the hail to be even more awesome, and for pharaoh to know it was God he was dealing with. "fire," however, was not the plague.

	yeah, 10 still doesn't "death of firstborn" and for the record, in the hagadah, (the book that is read on passover, forgive my spelling), it wasn't simply the death of the first born of every egyptian family, but it was specifically the death of the first born SON. Also, the "swarm" that sporcle interpreted as flies happens to be interpreted as WILD BEASTS in the hagadah. So the idea that this quiz was included in a tagline about passover is inexcusable. You guys at sporcle usually do an awesome job with these quizzes, but this one needs some serious revision.

	I once read (YEARS ago) a fascinating theory about how all these plagues happened. It started with something to do with red algae I think - the fish all died, and that drove the frogs onto the land. Can't remember how it went on from there except that the first born thing is because the first born son was the one who first ate from the cellar store of food, and the problem was that it had grown mouldy so all the first born sons died from this poisonous mould.

	Why do you have to be so specific with the death of the first born. I typed in death, then had to do at least 20 ways to find the right way to say it. I have to say, this is a lot like programing to me. AARRGGHH!! Why can't I forget computer science class!!
