| Wow, did anybody try putting in UK? I guess its a bonus answer and it says the UK become a sovereign nation in 1707. They're trying to be technical it would appear, implying that the UK was a separate country from Great Britain which was different from England and Wales. First of all I'd have to disagree with this. If one can use 1156 for Austria, then surely an earlier date is applicable for the UK. But anyway, 1707 is the wrong year. It is the year in which Great Britain was formed, the year that Scotland merged with England and Wales to become Great Britain. I believe the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was founded in 1803. This is a fail at being technical. |
