I should probably point out that all artists are not actually eligible yet. Additionally, both Genesis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been nominated for the 2010 induction.

It's weird, how is Iron Maiden not on here, they've sold like 30-40 million records easily?

Great quiz, but Tom Petty should be removed, as he was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

@RocknRoll:I think it was Tom Petty and the heartbreakers that were inducted. It seems small, but it does make a difference, as Petty can be inducted as a solo artist. @johnnyd:I didn't claim all of the acts were rock. This just seemed like an objective way to make a quiz on the subject.

@kthejoker: Yeah I missed that too until I tried typing ABBA in repeatedly, since it seemed impossible that they would be in the Rock Hall of Fame and equally impossible that they would have sold less than 20 million records worldwide.

Tom Petty & Genesis are both in the Hall of Fame

RIAA is the source. As in, Recording Industry Association of America. So, yes, it is just US Sales. @MitchellGoosen: As previously stated, Tom Petty AND THE HEARTBREAKERS is inducted. Tom Petty the solo act is considered differently under Hall of Fame Rules. And Genesis was inducted after this quiz was made.

KISS isn't in the HOF and surely they've sold more than 20 million...

There should be a Soft-Rock Hall of Fame to accommodate the artists who have made significant contributions, but don't exactly embody the term "Rock and Roll." One would think that KISS has sold millions of albums - they have actually been nominated for the RRHF a couple of times, including this year, but didn't make the ballot.
