The fact that "Periodic Table" didn't work for the final answer is a major strike against this quiz. In addition, things seemed to be popping up randomly mid-word; I finally realized that that was because you were accepting the symbols (which actually makes it much easier to breeze through the quiz).

Nicely done pgrossma, I like the idea behind this and it's clearly taken a while to get the formatting just right. The fact that symbols are accepted becomes apparent instantly. The only negative is that it's hard to keep track of which elements you've answered and I'm not sure how this could be fixed.

@Tahnan, "Periodic Table" is not accepted for the final answer because "Periodic Table" is not the final answer. If it were you could get the final answer after guessing just a few elements. As it is laid out, you have to get far enough through the quiz to where you can find the hidden message *inside* the periodic table.

The ASCII formatting is exceptional, I just don't fully understand as I'm quickly typing why some symbols result in particular portions of the image appearing. Also, I realize this would be quite a bit of work, but perhaps you could add bonus answers for each element, so that we could track which answers we already typed. One might argue that's part of the challenge, but personally I prefer being able to track what I've guessed.
