In each set of clues, you as the detective must solve the murder of the monster. In most cases this is the title character. The one exception is 'Frankenstein', where you are solving the murder of the Creature, not Dr. Frankenstein. In the case of the 'Lord of the Rings' the monster is considered Sauron (hint: his life force is tied to The One Ring). In King Kong, despite Carl Denham's line, beauty didn't actually kill the beast, that's just a metaphor.
