| As for why Ohio and Indiana appear deformed to you, I believe I can explain it. My assessment is that the irregularities in the Ohio border are too small for the resolution of the 8 bit grid to display and so it appears more square than expected. As for Indiana, I believe its "deformity" can be attributed as follows: at the point where Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio meet, more of that square was occupied by Kentucky than either Ohio or Indiana, therefore that square went to Kentucky, If you look at Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois in the new map, you will see that they all fit together nicely. I hope this helps clear things up, I'm glad there is someone out there who gets as excited about maps as I do :) |
