| @Slugma: Technically there's two teams in Allsvenskan called Göteborg and probably more in the lower tiers of the league system, so the IFK makes an important distinction (although, to be fair, the other Göteborg team is almost exclusively referred to as GAIS, never as Göteborg AIS).
However, it is also common practice to refer to IFK Göteborg either as IFK Göteborg or simply as IFK (even though there are many other clubs that are named IFK Something), but I've never heard anyone refer to it simply as Göteborg. That's why it'd probably be weird to allow simply Göteborg. |
