Phil Niekro was still active when the Braves retired his #35, although he was with the Yankees at the time.

@cocky: well it was the same with Ryan. @Patchy, you might want to lower the timer a bit. 5 minutes for six names with team, number, and year is a bit much. Also, you have the extra column labeled "number," instead of "year." Good quiz though.

Mariano Rivera's number has technically been retired already since MLB has retired the #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson. There were a couple of others who played with that number after they first retired it, but Rivera is the only active player to still wear that number.
