| @DethLeppard: The area of China is not well-defined, as there are substantial territories which are claimed by both India and China (Aksai Chin and Trans-Karakoram Tract in the Indian north/Chinese west and Arunachal Pradesh in the Indian east/Chinese south). There is also disagreement over whether to include Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Consequently, estimates of China's area can differ by 10 or 20 thousand square miles. These estimates happen to straddle the US's (unambiguous) area of 3,717,813 square miles, so depending on your criteria, China can be bigger or smaller than the US. |
