| In quizzes such as these, controversy always seems to arise in the comments, so, in the hopes of preventing at least some of this, I’ve decided to lay down the ‘ground rules’ as to what will be or won’t be accepted – although this will be subject to change if that’s what the people decide they want. So: here goes.
First and foremost, the way in which I have chosen to include or not include countries relates to the Sporcle Countries of the World Quiz.
For the purposes of this quiz, 'The Gambia', is two-worded, however, countries such as 'The Netherlands' have been left off, as, on the Countries of the World Quiz, it is displayed as simply ‘Netherlands’. I have left countries such as 'The Federated States of Micronesia', 'People's Republic of China' OFF this quiz, as, although these are acceptable answers on the Countries of the World Quiz, they are displayed as simply 'Micronesia', or 'China'- therefore these - for the purposes of this quiz - are not multi-worded countries. This applies to all other such countries, so no dispute!
‘Saint’ in countries is considered 5 letters, NOT 2 letters.
I wasn't sure about hyphenated countries, as they seem to create issues with some people, (whether they’re one worded or two), but, even though this isn't something I'm completely sure about, they are included anyway- so please comment if you think something needs changing!
With regards to accepting only St. Vincent, for example, I have opted to accept anything that the Sporcle Countries of the World Quiz accepts – so St. Vincent is accepted as such, but not just ‘St. Kitts’. The whole of ‘St Kitts and Nevis’ is required.
Thanks everyone for playing! |
