	The American Revolution, starting in 1778, became a world war. I actually found this in a textbook, so I can't source it. (According to Wikipedia, the American Revolution was a global conflict.)

	The definition of "world war" is, of course, a little fuzzy. Perhaps you should try to define it in the game note, or at least specify what the textbook says. Also, you should at least link to a page that indicates the textbook in particular (such as Amazon), even if it doesn't actually have the information, if you can.

	Actually, I think there are more conflicts that could conceivably be called "world wars" if by that term you mean conflicts in which the major powers of the time participated, or conflicts in which the related fighting took part in a majority of the world's land and sea areas. Eighty Years War, for example.

	You're right, the definition of world war is fuzzy. I should have defined it as taking place in the majority of the world's land and sea areas (thanks mdh10, although the Eighty Years War wasn't the majority). War of the Spanish Succession (and League of Augsburg, and Dutch Succession) is accepted - the quiz was designed for Americans (sorry), but other answers are accepted.

	A lot of these aren't even world wars by that definition. A lot of them, like the War of Austrian Succession, only took place in Europe.

	A war is usually considered a world war if it is fought in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The American Revolution also includes the conflicts between Britain and France during the war which were in all three of those places.

	why not include the 30 years war? ....or the cold war? ...or the "war on terror" as one COULD argue that has been fought on 4 continents by a multitude of nations, just not against a conventional nation. i agree. it is fuzzy.
