Please accept some alternates for "merpeople." It seems to be the only one that requires a plural... I tried both mermaid and merperson and then gave up.

I'm pretty sure Blast-Ended Skrewts were not mentioned in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Good quiz! Just a couple of tiny things (for the HP geeks) Golden Snidget should technically just come under 'snidget' as it does in the book, and also VoiceofKane2 is right, Skrewts aren't in FBAWTFT as Hagrid (illegally?) bred them himself. That tripped me up because I kept trying different spellings of snidget to fit in the gap. And even if they were to be added, I think you should put the full name. But other than that, really good idea :)

Luna Lovegood stopped playing this quiz when she saw the Crumple-Horned Snorkack wasn't on it.

@TrueNorth: This is the list of creatures from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (plus Blast-Ended Skrewts for some reason). In that book, thestrals are covered under the "winged horse" entry. Speaking of Skrewts, I'm repeating the sentiment from the archived comments that they should be removed, as they weren't in Fantastic Beasts.

@1337star You're definitely right, so I've removed the Skrewt from the quiz. A Skrewt is a hybrid creature bred by Hagrid (illegally) that died off rather quickly. It is not mentioned in the book.

You misspelled "Erkling". The correct spelling should be "Erlking."

This book seems to make some really arbitrary distinctions between Beings and Beasts. You should change the title to "Who's read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?" so as not to trip up people who have read the main series and guess things like "Giant" "House-Elf" "Goblin" etc. only to get confused and frustrated.

Fairy; yes, Elf; no, Gnome; yes, Goblin; no - Werewolf; yes, Vampire; no - Salamander; yes. Newt; no. ... I'm out. And where is 3-headed dog?

First, GRiley24 is wrong. It is indeed Erkling. http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Erkling Secondly, where are Hinkypunks?

It was a good quiz, but you're terribly lacking. I believe you forgot nargles, wrackspurts, the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, and many more.

It's odd which ones she chose to leave out of Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them. Cocktrice, for example, and hinky punk.

The description should say "Can you name the beasts from 'Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them'?" because these are not all the beasts from the actual Harry Potter series.

God, this is what Sporcle has done to my brain. Lethifold? Kappa? Fire Crab? No problem. But of course I miss dragon, hippogriff, centaur, basilisk.....

Golden Snidget should just be Snidget. That's how its labled in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Golden Snidget was the precursor to the Golden Snitch.

I'll agree with cneg - snidget alone should be permissable. It's the only one I missed and I almost tore my hair out trying to figure out why I was missing a G creature.

You have merpeople, which have human-like form, but no goblins or house-elves, etc. Also no skrewt, three-headed dog, crumple-horned snorkack, etc.
