This is a great idea for a quiz, but it could use an extra minute or two.

Very fun quiz, but you should say maybe "given names" due to the amount of presidents you listed that went by their middle names (Wilson's first name was Thomas, Cleveland's first name was Stephen.) Still, gotta go with rockgolf on this one.

Wow, I hadn't expected the last name that is second last to be on there. I'm from Cincinnati where he's from and we've got plenty of them around here!

I never would have guessed some of these had I not gotten desperate. Abraham, Franklin, Reagan, Garfield...I know multiple, non-related people with each of those names. Then again, each of those people are about 200 years old, so that could explain it.

There's a problem in that we're comparing against the first names of Americans, yet two of the "first" names given aren't actually the presidents' first names. Woodrow Wilson's first name is Thomas and Grover Cleveland's first name is Stephen. This quiz only works if you check the population for middle names, too. Also, are there really so few Coolidges? And it seems suspect for there to be equal numbers of Baracks and Rutherfords? Seems weird for the number to be the same.

Just went on the link, and another correction should be made; there aren't 1543 Baracks/Rutherfords and 114 Obamas, there are FEWER THAN 1543 and 114 of each, respectively. I don't know why they chose such an arbitrary number, but there you go. For all we know there's only 12 Baracks, or 50, or 114, we have no idea. I think putting in

Just played around with your source and I really think you should put "less than" 1,543 and 114 because that is what it says on the site. Really good idea though.

Surprised Truman is in there, I always thought that was a relatively common surname. Same with Garfield although I guess Jims Carrey and Davis may have persuaded some to change their names!

Yes, Woodrow Wilson's first name was Thomas, not Woodrow. And Grover Cleveland's first name was Stephen. And (although not at issue here) Calvin Coolidge's first name was John.

How funny that the highest office in the nation has never had something like John Smith or Bill Jones. I guess John Adams was the closest to most common? John Edwards coulda been - oops! Great quiz here - 5 orbs. :-)

I suppose all of the children named after Barack Obama, and all of the women changing their last name to Obama, didn't make it into the quiz.
