| Moonlighting was nominated for best drama series in 1986 and 1987, as well as a whole bunch of other awards in the drama categories, but it also was nominated for outstanding directing in a comedy series in 1985. I don't know if they changed their minds and decided to enter drama categories in 1986 after entering as a comedy in 1985, or if there was some other explanation. I suppose for shows like that which straddle the comedy/drama line, they could conceivably enter for both comedy and drama in categories like writing and directing, by entering different episodes that had a more comedic or more dramatic tone. There might be Emmy rules against this, but I can't find anything to confirm that because I've never heard of a show before that had nominations in both comedy and drama in different seasons. |
