	I don't think the win-loss record helps much as a hint, but I found it interesting to see that most of these guys had losing records. And to the one who was able to name all 40 (it wasn't me), no matter how you did it, I am truly impressed!

	Many (perhaps most) of them were hitting coaches before becoming managers. Managers get paid more.

	If you're counting one game for Rudy York, how come Ken Griffey, Sr. doesn't come up for various managers he has filled in for while they were serving a suspension?

	Baseball-Reference.com is the one doing the counting, and I think most would agree that they're a pretty good source. They list Rudy York as manager for that one game, and Ken Griffey is listed as manager for none. MLB.com also credits York with one game managed, and none for Griffey. If Griffey filled in for an ejected, or suspended, manager, he would then only have been considered an 'acting manager' as opposed to an 'interim manager', and as such, would not have gotten official recognition. Rudy York was named interim manager of his team, the Red Sox, for the period between Pinky Higgins' dismissal and Billy Jurges' hiring, sometime during the 1959 season.

	@johnlk: Once I stopped compiling the top 40, I added as bonus answers the names of those others I thought would be most frequently guessed, not necessarily the ones who rank immediately below the top 40. I should have considered Bill Terry from the get-go, but I didn't, shame on me. He's been added, along with another couple of old-timers, to make it an even 30 bonus 'wrong' answers. Thanks.

	Much harder than I thought it would be. Then I see the answers and say "I knew that" to almost everyone I missed. I guess most quizzes are easy once you know the answers.
