| Baseball-Reference.com is the one doing the counting, and I think most would agree that they're a pretty good source. They list Rudy York as manager for that one game, and Ken Griffey is listed as manager for none. MLB.com also credits York with one game managed, and none for Griffey. If Griffey filled in for an ejected, or suspended, manager, he would then only have been considered an 'acting manager' as opposed to an 'interim manager', and as such, would not have gotten official recognition. Rudy York was named interim manager of his team, the Red Sox, for the period between Pinky Higgins' dismissal and Billy Jurges' hiring, sometime during the 1959 season. |
