| some great films. if only there were enough hours in the day to watch them all. |
 | sharpdale: | Jan 18th, 2011 at 18:54 GMT | 2 points |
| The runtime you have for number 3 is the director's cut. The theatrical version ran 180 minutes. |

| Ok thanks |

 | noahaha: | Jan 19th, 2011 at 22:39 GMT | 1 point |
| No, it's only 2 hours, 43 minutes. |
 | exackerly: | Jan 21st, 2011 at 19:23 GMT | 3 points |
| Not The English Patient? Oh wait, it only feels like it's 4 hours long... |

| Not a great quiz. There should be a bit more information here to help people like maybe the year that it won or something. Otherwise you're just trying to remember which movies were really really long. |
 | Raynard: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 16:32 GMT | 3 points |
| I cant believe less than half of the people got Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia... I guess people just dont like the classics. |
 | Hejman: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 16:41 GMT | 13 points |
| Titanic was only 194 minutes? Lordy, it seemed about 10 times that long. |
 | Nightcrawler: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 16:51 GMT | 14 points |
| @Hejman: Funnily enough, the actual Titanic sank in 160 minutes. Which is almost twice as long as they showed it in the movie. |
 | Booger: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 17:00 GMT | 39 points |
| How could The English Patient not be on this list? I thought it would never end. |
 | rennbj4: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 17:01 GMT | 1 point |
| I find it comical that people always complain about movies too long, however, pretty much ALL of the best movies are the longer ones. |

| @raynard can't believe L-o-A wasn't more guessed considering it's the icon on the homepage |

| @rennbj4: "Casablanca" was 104 minutes. Plenty of others like it. |
 | redsxfenway: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 18:19 GMT | 2 points |
| I was quite surprised that Deer Hunter was 3 hours. It definitely didn't seem that long |
 | redsxfenway: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 18:31 GMT | 2 points |
| @rennbj4: check out the Sight and Sound critics' and directors' top 10 lists (a far superior list to AFI's crap fest). There are a few epics, but there are also a few that are less than 100 minutes.
Rashomon and Battleship Potemkin are less than 90 minutes |
 | mdalloway: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 18:39 GMT | 10 points |
| I suggest that "Around the World in 80 Days" should be a bonus.
From IMDb: "167 min (35 mm version) | 183 min (with overture and exit music) | UK:135 min (25 fps) (video version) | USA:175 min | 182 min (TCM print)" |

| Now that I see the answers, they seem so obvious. Titanic, of course. I did type Avatar just for fun, but no luck. |

| Surprised Braveheart wasn't on there. When I saw it in theatres, they had an intermission! Checked IMDb and it didn't quite make the cut at 177 minutes. |
 | Meltha: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 19:39 GMT | 2 points |
| I'm kind of curious if this includes entre'acte/intermission music or overtures in addition to the actual films. |

| I've never even heard of number 9, got the rest though |
 | Statto2: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 20:53 GMT | 1 point |
| Just worked out that the combined length of these 11 films is slightly longer than my working week! |
 | loopDloop: | Feb 9th, 2011 at 20:56 GMT | -1 points |
| Pretty creative, I like the idea! Although after watching any of these movies I don't feel like watching anything else for a looonnnggg time... |
