| @jakespooky: I agree. I prefer when variant spellings are separate. This is kind of personal for me, since both my mother and I have variant spellings in our names. Having people screw up our names, then claim that they're the same thing kind of irritates me.
I know a lot of people complain about the separation of variant spellings, but they are distinct names. The SSA separates them for a reason. Also, in this case, there are some inconsistencies with the decisions made in that regard. Most notably is the vivian/vivien and vivienne separation. (Don't know why someone voted that comment down. It is absolutely valid.) The only reason I got both is that I'm used to these games, and the vast majority do not combine variant spellings. |
