Good quiz. I'm going to out myself as one of those people who doesn't check the sources, but I thought Brazil was like half rain forest.

@ambition-thats true, but brazil, being a tropical country who's highest point is less than 3,000 meters above sea level, has no glaciers. (but they do have small pockets of desert regions)

Good quiz. Some very surprising answers. I think people will like it a lot.

Good quiz, This one really surprised me. Even though most of these have high mountains (like Ecuador and Iran) I was still surprised that they have glaciers because of their proximity to the equator.

very good/interesting quiz!

@austerlitz-glad you like. its important to remember that at the equator, there's very little seasonal change in temperature, so once you get mountains that are high enough (often 16,000-18,000 feet), you get mountaintops where the temperature is almost always below freezing.

Why is Australia a bonus if, according to the names that come after it, it has all three?

@double_a08-because australia's glacier is in the heard and mcdonald islands, which is an external territory of australia, rather than part of the country's seven states.

What about Tanzania and Kenya? - They definitely have Glaciers - Lewis Glacier on Mt Kenya and there are a few on Mt Kilimanjaro.

@arnoldschwa-you're right, there are glaciers, but both of those countries have tropical wet monsoon forests instead of rainforests, meaning those forests have prolonged dry seasons rather than the evenly distributed year-round moisture that characterizes true rainforests.

Great quiz! Interestingly New Zealand could almost make the list - Definitely rain forests and glaciers. There also is the Rangipo Desert in the Central North Island - however it is desert-like due to the poor quality of the volcanic soils, rather than lack of rainfall. A significant part of Central Otago is semi-arid, not far off receiving less than 250mm per annum. So close, but no cigar!

I'm amazed that a country as small as Azerbaijan has the geographic diversity necessary to facilitate all 3 biomes.

@pgrossma-part of the reason is that azerbaijan's desert area (which really is very tiny) lies in the exclave of Nakhchivan.

I was expecting and entering New Zealand too (with glaciers extending into patches of temperate rain forests) and arid parts due to the lack of rain east of the mountains, but not a real desert apparently. Still a beautiful and for its size incredibly diverse country.

Can this be re-split 30%/70%? The details take up a lot more space than the answers.

It appears, sadly, as though the Chacaltaya glacier has all but disappeared. In fact, many predict that, in the next 5 years, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador will all have to be removed from this list.

Alaska has the largest temperate rainforest in the world, more active glaciers than anywhere else in the world, and of course America's only arctic desert. Somehow it defies belief that none of these would show up in the results for the USA.

New Zealand has glaciers and rainforests, although it doesn't exactly have a desert. Rangipo might be called one, but officially it is not a desert.
