| @boostergold-theres been a lot of legal wrangling with that, so im not sure when same sex marriage will be fully legal there. weirdly, as supportive as I am of gay rights, i dont think gay marriage should be legalized by means of a judge overturning a public referendum (even if negative advertising by the mormon church was heavily influential in that referendum.) If judges can have the power to overturn referendums because of the question of constitutionality, what consequence does that have for other types of ballot initiatives? Ultimately, the people should decide when they want things like gay marriage, it shouldn't be forced on them by the courts. Give it a few years, and I'm sure gay marriage will become much more accepted in places like California |
