A highland climate is a high-elevation climate that is not easily categorized into the existing Koppen classes. Sources were varied, with substantial help coming from the College World Atlas
Countries that only had isolated highland microclimates (like those found on Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Fuji) were excluded from this quiz.

	The criteria seems a little bit confusing. For Andorra it says that the majority of the country is not alpine. But I'm pretty sure we can say the same about all of the large countries that do qualify. Like the majority of the US is not alpine in climate!

	@pk9-in the note at the top of the page, i say countries with highland microclimates are excluded, so andorra is only a bonus since it only has microclimates-I probably should have taken out the word 'majority' and replaced it with something else. but now that this is a published quiz, only the admins can edit it

	Congrats!! I've been such a fan of your quizzes, I never realized you hadn't been published. Surprised by lack of Slovenia - was just there and the NW corner seemed Alpine to my amateur eye. What's it missing?

	Sporcle noobs: DRC = Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rep Congo = Republic of the Congo. CAR = Central African Republic. Don't know why you are asking for things like "Dem Rep Congo" to be accepted when DRC is easier and makes more sense.

	@confused: +1 for your comment regarding slovenia - as an austrian i know for a fact that slovenians have the julian alps, the karavanke and the kamnik-savinja alps in the austrian-slovenian border region. that should help slovenia qualify as country with at least part alpine climate.

	And me, the area around Jesenice, Bled and Kranjska Gora in Slovenia are as Alpine as you like and this covers a good quarter of the country - a much bigger proportion than France's Alpine area.

	@schulace (nice name by the way ;-) Agree with your DRC comments. In fact, they are the same comments I would make about RC = Republic of the Congo, instead of Rep Congo. It's easier and makes more sense.
