	Some game notes: Of course, this is not intended to be a list of ALL of the important figures of the century. As a game, intended as a diversion, it can perhaps also lead to an awareness of some influential figures whose deeds still impact us today. For the most part I tried to include people whose prominence/accomplishments occur in the 19th Century, though there are some whose deeds were not noticed (or heralded) until later. Some, who are not included, overlapped centuries; and may appear in a future game (18th; 20th century people). Part II of this game (already drafted) includes more 19th Century figures, and will be following soon.

	By the way, "Abe" will definitely be making his appearance in Part II, honestly! Sometimes its more fun to save some of the best for last, as well as some of the more obscure. (And many more well-known people). Anyway, I HAD to split this into two games or players would be endlessly scrolling (I couldn't force-order the answers either, because the "hint" portion does not appear in that format).

	I don't think 'Sir', 'Von', 'De' and 'The' should be answers. Their actual names should be used instead rather than titles or definite articles.

	@RJMurphy: Thanks for your comments. I'd like to clarify their inclusion: Those words are part of their names, or part of their names as they are "known". The idea of the game title "Made a Name for Themselves..." was to include people of the century "as they are known" (or were known). "Otto von Bismark" and "Alexis de Tocqueville" ARE their names as those people are known. The "von" and the "de" are part of those names; no less than "Waldo" is part of the name Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Sir William Edward Parry" is/was "known" with all four parts of that name including his title. "Billy the Kid" is a nickname, and the word "the" is no less an integral part of it than "Billy" or "Kid". Using these shorter words was a way to "mix up" the game a bit, and make people think; also for a bit of fun in "how portions of the name were chosen." I tried to make that clear in the instructions above which indicate that "portions of the name," "nicknames," and "titles" would be included, so players would know this in advance.

	@JamesSnell. Thanks. Yeah, I debated over those two exact clues on whether to include them. I wanted to include world figures that were fairly well known historically, with a few here and there that might be more likely to ring a bell (from history studies) for people who've lived in certain countries, (or are history buffs). Both King George III and Queen Victoria were/are known as, well, "King George III" and "Queen Victoria". It was my hope that the alphabetical placement of those names would serve as the final hint necessary for players who know of them. (Also, in both of those cases, I wanted to have answers beginning with "G" and "V" to serve as alphabetical hints for the two clues that followed them).

	Really enjoyed this. I liked the way the missing parts of the names bounced around from first, to last, to title, to nickname. It works just fine just the way it is, you don't need to change anything.

	Should I be embarrassed that I got Ugly Betty's surname confused with the president of Mexico? Or that I tried Macaroni for the radio guy? I wasn't that far off. Loved the quiz.

	@debbiedoesnothin: The reason you tried Macaroni, is that when Marconi was just a boy, he tried talking into one of the open ends of a large piece of macaroni. When he heard his own voice coming out the other end, his future career in voice communications was set in motion!

	Fun quiz, but the John ____ (Chief Justice of the United States) is too vague. John Roberts is the current chief justice, and John Jay was the first-maybe clue of "marbury v. madison" would make it more clear.

	@matthitt: Well, I suppose "U.S. Chief Justice" in and of itself is vague, but only John "Marshall" fits the parameters of the game (19th century; and fitting alphabetically). John Jay was Chief Justice in the 18th century and John Roberts currently; and neither fits alphabetically (between "Marconi" and "Marx").

	@needapausebutton: While I agree that the titles, de/von/the are integral parts of their names as they are referred to, it would be more challenging to ask for a part of the name which really tests whether you know the person in question. I managed to get one of them solely by guessing - having no idea of the person in question. I am glad that you asked for George rather than King as King is not so integral. He is as or more often referred to as George III rather than King George III.

	@gowhere: Thank you for your feedback. I had a choice to make while developing this game -- make it a "true" test for the experts out there; make it a "common knowledge" game, or something in-between. I went for the "in-between". I felt that the "de" and "von" ones would have been pretty tough, but I wanted to include those personalities. So those two clues obviously became much easier, but still not automatic gets. And I want games to be fun, so the "the" clue was, well, just for fun. I hope that by having 80 clues in total, the experts still find it a bit of a challenge.
