	This quiz is just a sampling, and there certainly are many other "outbilled" Oscar winners who were not included. I wanted to keep the quiz size manageable. The answer field was also chosen from a large pool of higher-credited performers from many of those films.

	I'm really surprise Jack Nicholson wasn't the top billed actor for Cuckoo's Nest. Its not like anyone else in that film had better drawing power than he did at the time

	When people refer to an actor having top billing, aren't they usually referring to who's name is at the top of the poster, as opposed to whose name is listed first in the credits?

	Cuckoo's Nest billed alphabetically, which is how DeVito, in a smaller role and relatively unknown was billed ahead of both Fletcher and Nicholson. Christopher LLoyd, at the time an unknown in his first movie, was also billed ahead of Nicholson. All 4 have since been hugely successful and won at least one major award, DeVito, Golden Globe and LLoyd, Emmy, but the stature of all is not equal and LLod and DeVito are primarily Co-stars and not stars.

	As a quiz-maker who usually loads quiz game notes with "clarifying" information, I decided to try not to clutter this one up. On the cutting-room floor are reminders to players that the sequence of cast-listing IS sometimes alphabetical; furthermore sometimes a featured actor is lower-billed due to being listed later-on as "....And _____", or "Introducing ____". Regardless, I've always enjoyed actors/actresses who HAVE "risen above" bigger-name cast members to earn recognition. @Fidelio, I believe I did cover the "criteria" for that (for the purposes of this quiz) in the game notes.

	You may want to specify that you are referring to the end of the film "on-screen credits order" which are often quite different than the beginning of the film credit order. For instance, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Jack Nicholson's name appears first (before the film title) and Louise Fletcher's name appears second (right after the film title). William Redfield is the only other actor that gets his name listed at the beginning of the movie.

	Nice quiz. Was pleased with myself for deducing them all. Question, though: if Fletcher outbills Nicholson, and DeVito outbills Fletcher, what would have happened if I had answered DeVito for Nicholson? Wouldn't that be correct and leave only Fletcher for Fletcher?

	The answers were gender specific, so DeVito would not work for Nicholson as it had to be a Female.

	Silence of the Lambs seems like an odd choice, since they both won, and the equivalent Oscar. I mean, it's fine, and I got it right, but it struck me as a strange choice for this particular quiz. (Which gets 5 globes anyway--I really liked the idea and choices other than that ones, and just the right difficulty.)

^ Thanks, clapifyoulikeme. In fact, there are several pairs in this quiz where the Oscar-winner was over-billed by another Oscar winner. I tried to mix it up and not only use non-winners, who, in some cases, were just too obscure for players to have a reasonable chance to recognize them.

	@Jareeve: Yes. If you read the post I made just above yours, I explained that. Every Oscar-winning actor/actress in the quiz clues was out-billed by at least one person. In some instances those people were also Oscar winners themselves. That fact is immaterial to the accuracy of the quiz, as the point is that "you can win an Oscar for a performance in which you did not receive top billing" (regardless of who out-billed you or whether they also won an award).

	"Billing" refers to the opening credits/poster credits (it's derived from the word "Playbill"). The end credits are entirely different and usually not as based on the star system (e.g. they could be alphabetical, in order of appearance, etc.). That's not the billing at all. Nicholson, Douglas, McDormand, Paltrow, and Newman all had top billing in the posters/opening credits. They weren't out-billed by anyone. Fun quiz, but the word "billing" is completely irrelevant to it.

	@doctrine_duke: I went with IMDb's cast listings - it's a well-established site, and their staff does try to maintain accuracy. They use the phrase "Cast overview, first billed only". So, I believe the use of the word "billing" is now in broader use than from whence it was derived. That said, I AM open to suggestions for a better title if it can remain concise. I obviously don't want to say "Out-closing-credited Oscar Winners". So if anyone has a perfect "better" title, let me hear it.

	IMDb is a cluster**** lately with their credits, as anyone who's read the comments of movie/TV Sporcle quizzes knows when the source was IMDb. Mostly the quiz just seems kind of meaningless if the people weren't actually out-billed. It's just ridiculous to claim Jack was "out-billed" by DeVito when the movie opens "A Milos Forman film...Jack Nicholson...One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Obviously Jack had enough profile to secure top billing and not lose it to a minor role, obviously he's the billed star of that movie if you look at any poster.

	I understand that it's correct that an Oscar winner may be outbilled by another Oscar winner (e.g., Jon Voight outbilled by Jane Fonda), but why bother including those examples in the quiz? Shouldn't the spirit of the quiz be Oscar winning Actors who were outbilled by someone who DIDN'T win an Oscar?

	@gwynn19: I decided to keep some of them in for two reasons: First, any correct Oscar-winning answer simultaneously can serve as a good decoy for a different hint; and I felt that most of the names of over-billing actors which I did not include in the quiz were simply too obscure for players to have a fair chance at recognizing the names.

	William holden was billed above 2 of the winners. So, because Peter Finch came up before Alec Guinness, I got that one wrong. You kinda need to clean that up. It is a fun idea.
